Silent Witness star Emilia Fox is brimming with excitement over the audience's anticipation for Nikki Alexander and Jack's relationship progression as the show makes a comeback on BBC One tonight, January 6. The pair, who viewers have long hoped would take their romance to the next level, are hitting a significant milestone.
Chatting to Radio Times, Emilia shared: "The relationship between Jack and Nikki has been running over such a long period of time, and the expectation has been so great about what would or wouldn't happen, that we wanted that to be rewarded in the way that the proposal took place. There was a surprise element to it, but it reflected into what they do as well. The proposal had all of that.".
"David played it so beautifully. And so, it really felt like there was the thrill of that surprise and that Jack had really thought about it and cared about it. There's a real responsibility to get it right.". As Nikki and Jack fans tune in for tonight's premiere, they won't have to wait long for more, with a second helping scheduled for January 7, followed by the rest of the season airing similarly. Emilia reunites with co-star David Caves, who plays Jack, for the new instalments.
The launch of the new series introduces some fresh faces and welcomes back old favourites within the cast for the initial episodes. Jack finds himself on edge with the introduction of the new boss, Professor Harriet Maven, who doesn't waste any time unsettling Jack with her challenging demeanour.
Maggie Steed, a 78 year old English actress and comedian known for her roles in EastEnders, Rivals, Shine on Harvey Moon and Pie in the Sky, plays the character. She was one of the first women to become involved in the alternative comedy scene in the late 70s.
