Emmerdale April star 'confirms' baby's father amid devastating storyline

Emmerdale spoilers ahead for Thursday February 6 episode available to watch now on ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV. It's been a devastating week in Emmerdale, as fans learnt what happened to teenager April Windsor as she went missing. In devastating flashbacks, fans learnt April was pregnant as she had a stillbirth in the bathroom of a gym while living rough. In Thursdays episode, which has been available on ITVX since 7am, April's father Marlon Dingle questioned who the father was. "Was he part of the reason you left? Were the two of you still in contact? Does he know?" he said. However, April shut him down, saying it was just "some random lad.".
"He was just a random lad that I met at a party – I didn't even know his name, dad." Elsewhere, the father and daughter engaged in an emotional conversation, with April opening up on the reasons behind keeping the pregnancy a secret from her father. "I wanted to tell you, I almost did," she said. "But then, I found out that you'd always known how my mum really died. Lied to me about it my whole life. So then I figured, if you could keep secrets then so could I.".
April also opened up about the reasonings behind her running away, including learning the truth about her mum Donna. "You hardly ever noticed me unless I was drunk," she told her father, also mentioning him and Rhona almost splitting. She also spoke about Marlon's stroke and how she "had to be the strong one," as always. Amelia Flanagan, who plays the role of April has received huge amount of praise from fans and the rest of the cast during the devastating storyline. Amelia's dad Chris also spoke about how proud he was of his daughter. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he said: : "Couldn’t be prouder of Amelia, she worked so hard on this.
"11 years ago when our little 5 year old got the job we could never have dreamed that one day she’d be trusted with her own ep. Proudest dad ever right now!". However, Amelia isn't the proud dad's only famous child. Her sister, Bella plays Hope Stape - the daughter of Fizz Brown and John Stape on Manchester based soap Coronation Street. Their brother Will also plays Joseph on the ITV soap. Father Chris' bio on social media reads: "Proud dad of three. Amelia plays April in Emmerdale, Bella plays Hope Stape & Will plays Joseph Brown in Corrie.".
