Fans of one 90s girl group will be elated to hear they are ready to make a comeback - but there is one huge change. Eternal are ready to release their first album in 27 years following their big success almost 30 years ago. And sisters Vernie and Easther Bennett are hoping to emulate their glory days with a selection of brand new tunes.

It won't just be the dynamic duo on the recordings either, with the pair welcoming new member Christel Lakhdar to the group. The trio will perform together in a comeback show at Scala in London on April 30. The iconic band are said to "feel at home" with the idea of new music. Speaking of another album release, Vernie told The Sun : "We’ve started requesting songs. If we get that hit early on, if we write a hit early on, brilliant.".

She admitted the song has to be as "great" as the ones the band were made famous from, including the likes of I Wanna Be The Only One and Angel of Mine. She said she doesn't want to create a tune that's a quick hit, explaining she wants the longevity in a song, saying she is looking for a "Whitney Houston" type track.

Her sister Easther added: "I think the last album was cut short. There’s some massive songs which could be re-recorded and re-released, like How Many Tears.". Despite Easther and Vernie returning with Christel, two original members won't be making a comeback with the group. Kelle Bryan and Louise Redknapp are not part of the plans following a huge bust up in 2023. The sisters fell out with the duo after they were accused of saying they would only take part in an Eternal reunion if no Pride or LGBTQ+ festivals were included in any summer gigs.
