Family of tragic boy killed by fireplace were looking at securing it just a day before death The grandmother of a "happy toddler" who was killed when a TV and fireplace toppled onto him has said they were looking at securing both items to the wall just a day before his death.
She said that only the day before she and Carter's grandfather had been looking for ways that the TV and fireplace could be secured to the wall.
In a tragic final photo of Carter, the 'happy and inquisitive' little boy was pictured with his cousin's horse on a family day out - just hours before the tragic accident in September.
His maternal grandmother Helen Mayhew told the inquest that the TV had been brought from a previous address and had been put on the fireplace after new carpets had been laid.
Two-year-old Carter Walsh suffered a blow to his head when the marble fireplace and flat-screen TV fell on him as he danced along to CoComelon at his home in Wigan, Greater Manchester.
