The New York Times' popular word puzzle game 'Wordle' is down, according to downdetector.com. Players are reporting issues with connection, website functionality and game play, and these problems appear to be mainly affecting users on the East Coast and in Chicago.
As of 12pm ET, nearly 2,300 players had reported issues to downdetector.com, a website that provides real-time information about the status of various websites and online services. Wordle, a five-letter word puzzle game, has become a daily ritual for many. Last year, it was played a staggering 4.8 billion times.
The New York Times has not confirmed the outage, and it is unclear when the issues will be fixed. Wordle users have taken to social media to express their frustration and disappointment with not being able to play the game. 'Why is Wordle down? @nytimes Pls fix this before I crash out,' one X user posted.
'Why TF is Wordle down this is my lunch break treat,' another posted. Many have expressed concerns over losing their 'streak,' which is a count of the number of consecutive days they have solved the puzzle. When players fail to solve the puzzle, or miss a day of playing, the streak count resets to zero.
