Fast food chain 'more popular than KFC' to open another 45 UK branches this year

The popular fried chicken chain Popeyes has unveiled plans to open 45 new restaurants across the UK. The US-based fast food franchise first landed in the UK in 2021 and has since amassed millions of hungry fans across the country. Known for its rapid service and decadent crispy chicken meals, the chain has quickly become a staple for takeaway loving Brits, and last year opened a further 33 new locations across the UK.
The New Orleans style venues sell a wide range of chicken meals, including spicy burgers, wraps and expertly seasoned buttermilk poultry pieces. Among its sprawling menu of delectable chicken delights, Popeyes also sell fries, mac & cheese and Louisiana-style biscuits with gravy.
The American fast-food joint opened its first UK restaurant in Westfield shopping centre in Stratford in 2021. Popeyes now boasts dozens of venues across the country, with a growing appetite for the fried chicken takeaways driving the company to open further joints in other parts of the country.

New chicken joints are set to pop up in Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Manchester, as well as in Liverpool, London and Scotland. The brand has revealed that there will be different versions of the restaurant arriving, including dine-in eateries, drive-thru spots and delivery kitchens specifically for takeaway orders.
