WHEN it comes to cleaning our homes, everyone always remembers the key areas like the bathroom, the floors and the worktops. It's easy to make sure these areas are spotless because they often see more traffic than other parts of the house. As a result, they are more likely to get some wear and tear and it's more noticeable when they need to be cleaned or wiped down.
However, there is one spot that often gets overlooked and forgotten about - and it can be a hive for germs and bacteria. Experts have warned that we could be neglecting to clean, and it could cost you. Not only can it impact its quality, but not cleaning it often enough can actually pose a health risk.
They said: “It’s common to clear the table and wipe its surface after eating. "However, many forget that the dining chairs can also bear the brunt of dinner time. “Dust, dirt, and food particles can accumulate on dining chairs, leaving them vulnerable to damage.
"While regularly used dining chairs in high-traffic homes with children may suffer wear and tear, unused seats can also experience dust build-up, damaging the chair’s fabric. “Spills and debris left unaddressed can lead to stains, causing upholstery damage and hindering the dining chairs’ quality appearance.
"The dirt accumulated over time can also affect the seats and cause them to wear and tear quickly. "This can increase the chances of fungal, bacterial, and mould growth, further damaging the upholstery and putting households at risk. "Those with allergies should also ensure dining chairs are regularly cleaned and maintained, as dust build-up can exacerbate allergies.".
