Five potential fights for Jake Paul after Canelo Alvarez snubbed YouTuber

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul is on the lookout for a new opponent after super-middleweight king Canelo Alvarez rejected the chance to face the American. Earlier this week, boxing journalist Julius Julianis reported 'The Problem Child' and Canelo agreed to go head-to-head in May for a Cinco de Mayo event. Julianis revealed the proposed Paul vs. Alvarez fight will be co-promoted by Most Valuable Promotions, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), and Canelo Promotions.
However, following the sensational reports, Paul has been dealt a huge blow after it was announced that 'Saul' has signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season - including a September showdown with Terence Crawford. The 34-year-old will now fight an unknown opponent in May in Saudi Arabia before facing Crawford in Las Vegas in the autumn. He will then have two further fights in Saudi Arabia next year.
In a recent post uploaded to X - formerly known as Twitter - Paul revealed the exact date and location of his next fight, posting: “It’s time. Sat July 5 New York, New York.” With 'The Problem Child' in need of a dance partner, Mirror Fighting takes a look at five potential opponents next for the social media star... Last month, the boxing world was left stunned after Paul uploaded a picture to social media alongside his older brother Logan and Conor McGregor. Despite the ongoing feud between the Paul brothers and 'The Notorious', it seemed as if they had put aside their rivalry and settled their differences - or so we thought.
The Irishman went on to issue a chilling threat to the American stars, saying: “This is the real deal, you know that bro. We’ll do it,” McGregor said. “We can do what? 190, 195lbs? [Jake] was sick. He was sick over it! Listen, here’s the deal. I’m going to slap the head off the two of you and KSI. You are nixers to me. Do you understand that? Side jobs.” Over the last few months, both Paul and McGregor have traded barbs online, and the former dual-weight UFC champion has expressed his interest in a boxing fight with the 28-year-old.
These two have a bit of a history. Over the years, the pair have exchanged brutal verbal blows online. Eventually, they decided to settle their bitter feud. The two boxing stars went head-to-head back in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. In a closely fought contest, Fury would go on to hand Paul the first loss of his professional career, winning via split decision. Since the turn of the new year, both men have talked up a potential sequel. Fury is very much open to facing Paul in the ring again and putting the rivalry to bed once and for all. "Right, so I've just woke up and seen Logan Paul talk on his podcast yet again about how I don't want to fight Jake and that I'm running scared. I've seen Jake tweet the other day about how he offered me x,y,z on Netflix. I just wanted to come on here and say that no one here is running from this fight," Fury said in a recent video uploaded to social media.
"I've beat you once already, I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped in there with a real boxer... you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that's not a problem. But let's talk some serious numbers down the phone. If you want to get touch, you know where I am. It's as easy as that. I can come back after a year and beat the pair of you. At the end of the day, if you want to fight, let's talk some serious numbers... you know where I am.".
Without a doubt, a potential clash between KSI and Paul would go down as the biggest fight in influencer boxing. The major stumbling block has been the issue regarding the weight. Last year, the Brit discussed the possibility of taking on the American, saying: "I'll be honest with you, what the hell is going on. I think it's literally to do with the weight because right now he's fighting Mike Tyson. I've got a weight - 185kg... Jake wants 200kg.".
His business partner, Logan (Jake's older brother) was sat next to KSI during the interview and decided to come up with an amusing way to make the fight happen. "I have a solution," he said. "Since we know the boxing fight is never going to happen... Why don't you fight Jake at my wedding?" KSI then burst into laughter before Paul continued: "I'll invite you, I'll invite Jake and we'll just settle it bro, I'll be okay with that.".
This may sound like a crazy idea, but it could well be on the cards. Last month, the brothers hinted they will fight each other on March 27. The fighting pair shocked boxing fans by announcing they will fight in two months' time in a bout aired on HBO Max, as both men posted a photo of the two facing off. Just days after, though, they cleared up and addressed any confusion by announcing they WON'T fight each other and will instead star in a new reality TV show.
