A current pundit who earned status as a cult hero at Arsenal during his playing career has given his verdict on whether the club should sign Victor Osimhen. Perry Groves, who made 156 appearances over six years in north London, gave an unwavering three-word statement when quizzed as to whether the Nigerian should be a target for the Gunners.
Speaking to Talksport, Groves said that Arsenal should sign Osimhen, who has 15 goals in 19 matches across all competitions for Galatasaray so far this season, 'in a heartbeat'. The former winger added: 'You are not going to get [Alexander] Isak because Newcastle, even though they had a bad result on the weekend, they're still looking to see if they can get into the Champions League, so they're not going to get Isak.
'So, if it means you pay over the odds or if you take a player on loan, any centre-forward at the top level'. Arsenal's options in attack have caused constant debate all season: do the Gunners need further reinforcements up front if they are to win a first Premier League title in 21 years.
