Fortnite is about to get a lot bigger (and we mean skyscraper-size) as Godzilla stomps onto the Battle Pass as its secret skin, bringing heaps of new cosmetics with them. The King of the Monsters has arrived on the Fortnite Island, and to say we’re excited for the classic monster to appear is an understatement. It's shocking to think that somehow, pop culture’s ride from Godzilla’s arrival in 1954 would lead us to a version of the monster, first designed to reflect ‘50s Japan’s fear in the wake of the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, hitting the griddy in a pair of fresh Jordans. Call it what you want, but it certainly isn’t boring.
After all, the arrival of the MonsterVerse champion is of no surprise after the appearance of a Hatsune Miku Item Shop bundle and Fortnite Festival Music Pass; not even considering the many years of bizarre skins that came before the monster and musician touched down. Regardless of historical context or if Godzilla actually suits the game, they’ve arrived, and they’ve come with a heap of new cosmetics for players to get stuck into that have finally been revealed in the game’s most recent update’s patch notes. The Fortnite Godzilla skin release time is set for tomorrow, on Friday, January 17 at 2pm GMT / 9am EST / 6am PST. This date has been confirmed on the Battle Pass page in-game, and the time is an estimate based on the previous two similar cosmetic packs – the Doom secret skin in Chapter 5 Season 4 and the Magneto secret skin in Chapter 5 season 3, going live at the same time in their respective seasons.
