The new Fortnite update is here to deliver a brand new Fortnite Festival headliner and an instantly recognizable on-island boss. Update: Fortnite downtime has now ended after two hours and 40 minutes at 11.39am GMT / 6.39am EST / 3.39am PST, as reported by a new tweet from @FortniteStatus. Jump in now!.
Original story: It’s time for Fortnite to leap into its first update of the year, and it’s safe to say that players are ready for new content. Now that Winterfest has concluded and all of its cosmetics have been snatched up, players are hoping for more content to come to the game than just a Doughberman skin and a Dance Floor Item Shop takeover to keep them busy. Luckily, Epic Games seems ready to oblige today.
The arrival of Hatsune Miku as Fortnite Festival’s first vocaloid headliner has been long-awaited, and the same goes for the appearance of Godzilla, who will be stomping into the game as its Battle Pass secret skin and an on-map mini-boss. It’s going to be a blast when the pair come together, and prove once again that Fortnite is perhaps the strangest game on the market when it comes to its pop culture crossovers. We’re willing to bet that the pair will make the perfect duo.
We’ll have to get through some downtime to see them come together, but thankfully, it’ll come with enough content to make the wait worth it. Here’s what you need to know about the Fortnite downtime schedule and its current status. Fortnite servers will go down at 9am GMT / 4am EST / 1am PST today, Tuesday, January 14, as confirmed by a tweet from the @FortniteStatus Twitter account. And as always, matchmaking will be disabled around 30 minutes beforehand, so you might be unable to get into a game from around 8.30am GMT / 3.30am EST / 12.30am PST.
