Fortnite is bringing back its annual New Years in-game mini-event, albeit with very little fanfare for players – but it's also got another trick up its sleeve to allow players to ring in the new year in style. Fortnite has been packed with impressive live events so far this year, with Fortnite Remix: The Finale being the biggest and most star-studded that the game has ever managed; and with Mariah Carey’s Ice Block melting, Epic Games hasn’t skimped on its smaller in-game excitements either. It seems that more is coming, too, with the game expected to deliver another New Year’s event for players to ring in the excitement of 2025 in their favourite game.
There has been very little fanfare from Epic about the event’s appearance, though, and players are beginning to wonder if we’ll see it at all – but a new tweet from leaker @Hypex has revealed that the all-important New Year's Eve event lobby has opened and is already welcoming players. Worry not, as the Fortnite New Year's Eve event is going ahead, and is already in full swing, and ready for you to join in time for the all-important countdown.
So when does the exciting celebration begin? Here’s what we know about the Fortnite New Years event. The Fortnite New Years event seems to have started at 12pm GMT / 7am EST / 4am PST today, Tuesday, December 31 judging by the tweets popping up sharing clips. It hasn’t changed much since it was first introduced in time for New Year’s Eve in 2018, and offers players a mini-event accessible from the game's lobby, that takes place on the hour, every hour. This is a way to accommodate different players in different timezones, so no matter when you jump into the game, there will be a celebration that syncs up with your real-time New Year changeover.
