Four easy to ways to brighten your day on a budget during January

SHORT dark days can feel like a bit of a slog in January and leave you feeling sleepy and downbeat. So here are some ways to brighten your day on a budget . . . GET OUT: Try to get outside during daylight hours. Aim to get out in the morning where possible to help reset your body clock.
Or simply go for a walk at lunchtime or plan a daily trip to the park or shops. It doesn’t matter if it is cloudy, just being outside in natural light can make you feel much better. MOVE YOUR SEAT: Make your home or work environment as light as possible.
Fully open curtains or blinds when it is daytime. Cut back bushes or trees that are blocking light into your home. Try to sit near a window when indoors. This could mean reorganising furniture in your pad — or asking to swap seats in your office. CLOCK THIS: Sunrise alarm clocks simulate the effect of a sunrise in your bedroom helping you to wake up more gently in the morning.
The Lumie Sunrise clock will start giving off light 30 minutes before your alarm time and you can also add natural sounds. You can currently get it for £33.73 from Amazon, down from its RRP of £49.99. VITAMIN D: During the spring and summer months, most of us will get the vitamin D we need from sunlight but when days are short we can become deficient.
The vitamin helps keep our bones and teeth healthy and is also linked to mood regulation. Most of us should consider taking vitamin D supplements during winter months to keep levels up. You can get a half-price pack of 90 tablets down from £2.49 to £1.25 at Holland & Barrett.
