Jason Junior Romeo, 20, died after an altercation in Bodney Road, Hackney, at around 6pm on February 18, the Metropolitan Police said.

Following a public appeal, Renaldo Roberts, 25, is accused of murdering Mr Romeo who was treated by the London Ambulance Service, but pronounced dead at the scene.

Following Mr Romeo’s death, officers in Hackney deployed additional stop-and-search powers under a section 60 order.

Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall, who leads the Central East Command Unit, said: “We understand that the increased police presence in Hackney this week will be concerning for residents.

A family friend of Mr Romeo previously told the Standard he was “vulnerable” and that she had seen him just hours before his death in Clapton.
