BIG Brother legend Kate Lawler admits she'd like to see fireworks banned as she reveals she’s fleeing to the countryside for New Year. The 44-year-old is a proud dog owner who claims her pups are "absolutely terrified" of fireworks. In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Kate revealed how she's spending Christmas this year.

She said: "I'm spending Christmas with my mother-in-law, who is from the Czech Republic, and she makes traditional Czech food, so that's going to be interesting. "She does do a roast turkey and all the trimmings on Christmas Day, and she makes me a lovely cauliflower cheese, which I really do enjoy, and a mean potato salad, like a proper traditional Czech potato salad, which I love.".

Family is at the heart of Kate's life and she's been able to pay homage to her dad's love of cricket in a fun new project celebrating the game and its culinary links around the world. Released last month, Taste of Cricket is a celebration of diversity in the game and features a selection of delicious recipes that represent the sport.

Some notable names crop up among its pages including Ainsley Harriott and his Jamaican beef patties, Stephen Fry's maple and cinnamon buns and of course, Kate, whose vegetarian lasagne sounds stunning. Looking forward to her Christmas plans this year, Kate spoke about her love of dogs and ensuring they're as comfortable as possible amid the festive celebrations.
