Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have left fans in stitches by hilariously battling to shovel snow on the Anfield pitch after Liverpool's clash with Manchester United went ahead. There were concerns the huge Premier League game might be called off due to adverse weather conditions in the north of England, but after two safety checks the match will still go ahead.

Manchester United fans might be disappointed by the news given the team's dreadful run of four straight defeats and Liverpool's incredible form. Neville reflected that view as he was filmed picking up snow by the dugout at Anfield and flinging it back onto the pitch.

Carragher was then seen picking up the snow that Neville had thrown and launching it back towards the sidelines, with the Liverpool legend clearly in a confident mood ahead of kick-off. Neville filmed himself discussing the decision play the game and joked that the turf was "not playable".

"Well here we are, some debate as to whether the game would be on or off but it's on and there's the pitch at Anfield. Bit of snow still left on it, a little bit of light drizzle, call it off, it's not playable.". Liverpool have the chance to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and will be heavy favourites to defeat their rivals - having already beaten them 3-0 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

United will be desperate to bounce back from their rotten run after a 2-0 home loss to Newcastle last time out, which Neville called "embarrassing", after watching Christian Eriksen and Casemiro get run ragged by the Magpies' midfield trio of Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.
