Gary Neville told to scrap punditry career and return to management as Man Utd boss Gary Neville has been encouraged to quit punditry and take a step back from his business interests - to take charge of Manchester United.
Legendary broadcaster and Match of the Day anchor Des Lynam, 82, has claimed that former United captain Neville would be the best man to salvage the Red Devils from their struggles and back to Premier League glory.
"A few years ago I suggested that the only man who could steer United back to their former glory was their one-time captain Gary Neville," Lynam wrote in the Telegraph.
Lynam believes that Neville would have the necessary impact in the dressing room but would also be able to hold those in the United hierarchy to account.
"I put it to him and while I touched something of a nerve, Gary made it clear that his business interests and his punditry for Sky would take precedence over any thought of engaging in football management again.
