Gavin and Stacey star explains why the fishing trip had to remain a mystery

The Gavin and Stacey finale provided a satisfying end to the long-running BBC sitcom, but fans are going to have to live with one big unknown forever. Throughout the series, there has been a long-running joke that’s been particularly infuriating for those who like answers.
There is an unexplained tension between Jason (Robert Wilfort) and Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) that relates back to a fishing trip. The excursion took place 30 years ago, and we’ve been provided with clues as to what happened but nothing concrete. We know they were both on their knees (could be metaphorical), they did it because it was cold, and there seems to be some sort of nudity involved. Uncle Bryn has also revealed that whatever they did is ‘legal in Wales’.
Every time it is close to being revealed, something happens which prevents the complete story being shared.
