Gladiators star Jet has revealed police were called to an incident at her home during the breakdown of her marriage to wife Zoe Gilbert. The 53-year-old, real name Diane Youdale, said she ‘snapped’ after being ‘pushed over the edge’ during a row but denies harming Zoe, 49. It comes days after the BBC star announced she had split from Zoe, who she met at their local Tesco, after an 18-month marriage. She said its disintegration left her feeling ‘suicidal.’.

Diane detailed an argument in 2023 that sparked the ending of their relationship in which she was marched out of their home by officers in the North East. She told the Mail Online: ‘She fell over the back of the sofa. I pressed on her chest three times firmly and I said, “Stop this now.” I can’t remember what happened then. The next thing I knew I was being led out by the police. ‘The living room was an absolute mess, there was coffee up the walls, writing all over the walls. She is claiming that I did all that, but I didn’t. I’m unsure what level of amnesia I must have had to block it out.’.

Diane also claimed that Zoe said she ‘threw her down the stairs’ during the row but refutes her allegations. She said: ‘I felt suicidal. She pushed me to the limit to suddenly make me the baddie, which is as clear as day now. She took pictures of her injuries, none of which I inflicted.

Diane added: ‘I would only lay hands on someone in rage if they were attacking a minor or an animal or in self-defence and I was never in self-defence around her. This was the final moment between us.’. During her relationship with Zoe, Diane said she developed a reliance on alcohol to ‘self-medicate’, claiming they would drink together every night. The TV star said their drinking habits would lead to arguments about her previous partners and current colleagues.

She explained: ‘Zoe was mainly getting at me about any past relationships I had with women. It wasn’t my first rodeo, and I am good at long-term, settled and normal relationships. ‘That’s my relationship style but Zoe has never had that opportunity without it being full of drama. She wanted to create drama at night.’. ‘She accused me of sleeping with all my clients, all my friends, can you imagine being accused of that? She never understood me and celebrated nothing about the triumphs or successes in my life.’.

Diane said she has now given up alcohol and has not touched a drop since July. After their split, Diane claimed her family took Zoe’s side after she ‘turned them against her.’. She said: ‘The pack of people around her and I could list the names. It’s so harrowing what’s been happening. ‘My family has never once asked me about what happened or my side. I am astonished by them. I am let down by them.’.

The TV star also claimed that Zoe orchestrated their meeting at Tesco. She said: ‘Our meeting wasn’t by chance. She even stuttered on my surname. ‘It was then I had a little alarm bell, but I was so flattered after being approached in a supermarket and to be asked out on a date. ‘But the research had been done. She knew my past relationships. It was creepy and weird.’. Mail Online reached out to Zoe for comment.

Diane proposed to Zoe four months after meeting, and they married after a year-and-a-half of dating in an intimate ceremony. She previously dated Gladiators co-star Hunter (James Crossley) for two years before marrying TV executive George Mayhew. Diane joined the iconic BBC gameshow Gladiators in 1992 at the age of 22, but was forced to leave four years later after suffering a neck injury.
