The BBC has confirmed the line-up and premiere date for the second season of Gladiators, and fans don't have long to wait. The rebooted gameshow, hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney Walsh, is officially back this weekend and will be tougher than ever! Episode one will air at 5:50 p.m. tonight (January 18), and new episodes will premiere weekly.
The Gladiators returning to the series are Sabre, Legend, Diamond, Phantom, Athena, Bionic, Giant, Dynamite, Comet, Viper, Electro, Apollo, Fury, Steel, and Fire, who notably appeared in the recent season of Strictly Come Dancing. Two newcomers are also set to join the roster of existing Gladiators. Cyclone is a 23-year-old Irish Powerlifter, while Hammer is a 32-year-old World Rowing Champion.
Sadly, Nitro, aka Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, won't participate in the upcoming events after suffering an injury during training. Instead, he will be sat on the sidelines, cheering his colleagues on. He confirmed the news on Instagram last month: "Speed is my thing, but sometimes life throws a curveball! During training for series 2 earlier this year, I picked up an unexpected knee injury, which means I'll be shifting gears this series and sitting out the events.
"But don't worry, I'm recharging and more energised than ever! You'll still catch me bringing the Nitro spirit to your screens, hyping up my fellow Gladiators, and keeping the energy sky-high. Bring on series 2 of Gladiators!". As well as two new Gladiators, the new series will also feature new events, including Atlaspheres.
