Health minister Andrew Gwynne sacked over offensive WhatsApp messages Health minister Andrew Gwynne has been sacked after apologising for offence caused by a string of abusive WhatsApp messages insulting constituents, fellow MPs and councillors.
A Labour spokesperson said: “Andrew Gwynne has been administratively suspended as a member of the Labour Party.
A government spokesperson said: “The prime minister is determined to uphold high standards of conduct in public office and lead a government in the service of working people.
The newspaper said the texts were exchanged in a group called Trigger Me Timbers which Gwynne shares with more than a dozen party officials all based on the outskirts of Manchester.
“We are investigating comments made in this WhatsApp group in line with the Labour Party’s rules and procedures.
