The bodies of Dawn Searle, 56, and Andrew, 65, were discovered by a neighbour earlier this month, sparking various theories including a robbery-gone-wrong and a professional hit job.
French police initially thought Andrew, originally from West Sussex, and Dawn, from Scotland, were killed during a burglary gone wrong at their remote rural home.
In the wake of the deaths, friends of the couple spoke out to reject the idea Andrew could have murdered Dawn.
Dawn Searle's body had a head wound and was found near the front door surrounded by scattered jewellery.
Updated information led cops to believe the couple may have been targeted in a revenge attack by hitmen, as Andrew is a former organised crime investigator.
