December 25 is fast approaching, meaning work Christmas parties will soon be in full swing across the UK. While the event is about marking the festive period with colleagues, with alcohol on offer, a dancefloor, and your boss all in one place, there's plenty that could go awry.
In a bid to survive the festive season, etiquette expert Laura Windsor and founder of the Laura Windsor Etiquette Academy has offered her top tips and tricks to enjoy the work party without committing any behaviour faux pas. Speaking exclusively to Femail, Laura explained that the first thing to consider is one's attire, and while many might want to slip into something fun, it's important to keep clothes appropriate.
'Sometimes there is a dress code to help people decipher what to wear, but remember, at an office party, you are still an ambassador of your company, so keep it tasteful,' Laura said. She continued: 'A lot of people like to dress up and change into something a little more glamorous; but make sure your cocktail dress is not too revealing or too short.
'For those who don't want to change, you can dress up your work clothes with accessories, high heels, a clutch bag and, of course, refresh your make-up. 'For men, a pair of pressed trousers is ideal, a clean shirt and a jacket. Depending on the formality of the party, a tie may also be needed.'.
