Actor Hugh Jackman has pulled out of a festival appearance in the UK. Hugh, 56, was due to perform at BST Hyde Park in London later this year. The annual festival will return to Hyde Park in the capital city from June 27 to July 13, with the former X-Men star having been scheduled to perform on July 6. It was however announced on Monday morning that he is now unable to perform on that date due to an "unforeseen conflict" in his schedule. The news was shared with fans by both BST Hyde Park and Hugh in posts on social media.
A statement reads: "Due to an unforeseen conflict in my schedule, I am deeply disappointed to announce I will be unable to perform in Hyde Park this July 6th. This was a stage I truly was looking forward to being on. No less in a city that I love so much. Thank you to all people who've purchased tickets. For ticket refunds, please go to the link in my bio for more information. London, I will see you soon!".
Festival organisers said: "Ticketholders for Hugh Jackman will automatically be refunded and contacted directly by their ticket agent with further details." They added on its website: "Ticketholders [will] automatically be refunded in full for tickets purchased through official agents.". The line-up for the festival over the summer includes Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan and Sabrina Carpenter. Jeff Lynne's ELO are also set to perform on one weekend, whilst Noah Kahan is due to be joined by special guest Gracie Abrams.
Hugh had previously announced that he would perform at the festival by sharing a video of himself in Hyde Park. The footage was shared with his fans in November last year and he teased in it that he would take to the stage at the park. He said: "I love Hyde Park in London. This is one of the great parks in the world. I love walking through here. There's only one thing I prefer than walking in Hyde Park in London and that's performing [here] so I'm thinking maybe the summer series next year." Hugh then added: "Come and join me!".
His performance was set to include a medley of musical theatre classics, after having starred in various stage productions over the course of his career to date, accompanied by a live orchestra. It was previously teased that his set would include songs from shows like the Boy From Oz, the Greatest Showman, Les Miserables and the Music Man, as well as "some surprises" for his fans.
