AFTER showing off her home transformation, one council house dweller was met with significant backlash. She showed her followers before and after pictures of her DIY renovation project. In her viral video, TikTok user Evie Scholes (@evie.scholes) offered comparison shots of each room of her house.
She explained that she had to "trust the process" as she carried out the work. First, she showed her audience a virtual tour of the home as it was the day she moved in. Walking through the space, she filmed the peeling and stained walls in the kitchen and the living room.
The council also boarded up the fireplace in the home before offering it to Evie. She filmed the back garden, which had overgrown grass that was a few feet tall. The stairs also appeared to have been neglected, with scuff marks on most of the steps. Upstairs, the floor in the hallway looked to be rotting with a layer of carboard placed over it.
"How my council gave me the house for me to turn it into a home," the TikToker captioned the clip. Evie included pictures of what her council house looks like after she finished her renovation work. Her projects included laying down a grey carpet on the stairs and placing artwork on the walls of her hallway.
She also added window blinds, a diffuser, and vases with pampas to the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, she hung a decorative hook for her house keys. Evie also showed off her completed living room, which included a fluffy grey rug, a gold mirror over the fireplace, and decorative lighting.
