A DIY enthusiast has given her dull housing association toilet a mega makeover, all whilst on a budget. So if the cost of living crisis has made your purse feel tighter than ever before, but you’re keen to give your home an overhaul, then you’ve come to the right place. Nikki Mc was able to give her magnolia downstairs loo a wacky renovation, without breaking the bank - and it’s left many open-mouthed.
Nikki took to social media and posted on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, to share a before and after look at her jaw-dropping project. The DIY fan, who is from the UK, claimed that whilst her renovation might not be everyone’s cup of tea, she absolutely loves it. Alongside snaps of her home, Nikki penned: “I know it’s not to everyone's taste, but I let my creativity go a little wild with this one.
“I had a boring housing association laundry room and downstairs loo with magnolia walls that were dull and featureless. “Everything is removable and easy to change if I ever move, but I’m loving my bright, sparkly and wacky DIY on a budget.”. What was once a very plain and boring space, has now been given the ultimate transformation. The once magnolia walls have now been given a fresh lick of paint - and whilst one wall is completely decorated with a floral and leaf print, another is covered in funky pictures.
The space is even complete with a neon light, a stag head and one of the most unique toilet roll holders you’ve ever seen. Not only this, but there’s even funky music-themed wallpaper and quirky accessories making this bathroom unlike any other. Nikki later confirmed that she got pretty much everything for her makeover from Temu and B&M, which ensured she was able to keep the costs down. Not only has her toilet been given a mega makeover, but she even used mermaid scales wallpaper, which is actually a photo booth backdrop, also from Temu, to glow up her laundry room, which is just outside her toilet.
The ultimate guide for homeowners and renters:. Nikki’s post has clearly impressed many, as DIY fans eagerly flocked to the comments to praise her unique makeover. Not only did many think it looked ‘gorgeous’, but others admitted to being inspired by the affordable refurbishment. Love it, giving me inspo for my bathroom. One person said: “Omg wow I love it! Looks amazing, well done.”. Another added: “FAB-U-LOUS!!!”.
