‘I visited the Cotswolds’ trendiest new hotel with a unique surprise in the garden’

The Pig boutique hotels have carved out a reputation for their farm-to-table cuisine, distinctive decor and homely charm – and their latest addition, nestled just outside Cirencester, is no different. The Pig's signature laid-back luxury is plentiful in this Grade II-listed building, formerly known as Barnsley House. It's brimming with eclectic antique furniture, worn rugs and welcoming staff who treat you like long-lost friends. Imagine the Weasleys' home from the Harry Potter series, but far more chic than shabby.
Our bedroom was a stunning, spacious haven in green tones, tucked away in the eaves of the main house. Downstairs, you'll find the library, snug, dining room and small bar, along with several other rooms and lodges scattered across the grounds. While most of the other Pig hotels have their 'potting shed' treatment rooms, The Pig in the Cotswolds is the first to feature its own little spa at the bottom of the garden, complete with a sauna, steam room and outdoor hydropool. My customised full body massage was simply heavenly, utilising products from eco-friendly beauty brand Tribe517.
Another first for The Pig is their inaugural pub – The Village Pub – located directly opposite, offering local ales, hearty meals and six additional bedrooms in a cosy setting, reports OK!. The Pig's unique selling point is its commitment to local produce. Much of the food served is grown in the hotel's own potager and kitchen gardens, which guests are free to wander around. Almost everything else is sourced from within a 25-mile radius. The menus even feature a map highlighting local producers, such as Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone Brewery.
