Philippe Clement has warned the Rangers board not to entertain any offers that might come in for Hamza Igamane this month. After taking time to adjust to life at Ibrox after signing from AS FAR in his native Morocco in the summer, the 22-year-old striker has hit top form.
Last Sunday’s hat-trick against Hibs brought his goals tally for the campaign to 11. With his manager recently acknowledging there was serious interest in some of his players, the forward’s hot streak could yet see a concrete bid being tabled. However, six months after insisting the club couldn’t contemplate cashing in on Jack Butland, Clement is adamant that Rangers must now take the same stance over Igamane.
‘I think it is important now if we want consistency that we’re not going to sell players who are performing well,’ said the Belgian ahead of Thursday night’s game at Dundee. ‘Otherwise, it becomes even more difficult.’. Philippe Clement has warned the Rangers board not to entertain any offers for Igamane. Clement feels there’s no harm in Rangers supporters becoming emotionally attached to Igamane, even though the long-term plan will be to sell him for a bumper fee. ‘No, no, they need to be attached because that helps the player, it gives him a lot of energy and confidence,’ he added.
