Inside Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau's bitter rivalry turned bromance ahead of $10m crypto showdown

Back in November 2021, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka came face-to-face in Las Vegas. They were slated to clash over 12 holes at the Wynn Golf Club. They had just completed nine when Koepka turned to DeChambeau. 'I'm not going to lie,' he said. 'I just wanted to spank you.'.
He did, winning 4&3 and 'settling' a rivalry that had been bubbling for years due to ants, slow play, steroids and a naked magazine cover. This week they are back, on another patch of green a few miles from the Strip. Not as enemies anymore, but 'stepbrothers'. Partners, even.
Koepka and DeChambeau have been on the same side before. As golf tore itself in two, they were among the most high-profile defectors to LIV Golf. They were Ryder Cup teammates in both 2018 and 2021, too. This time they are bound by more than nationality.
DeChambeau and Koepka have chosen to join forces to face Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in a LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour showdown at Shadow Creek. Bryson DeChambeau (left) and Brooks Koepka have turned from sworn enemies to friends. DeChambeau previously criticized his rival's physique after he appeared on ESPN's Body Issue.
The event will see four of golf's biggest names battle it out for $10m in cryptocurrency across three, six-hole shootouts. It is a lucrative way to end 2024 and mark a new chapter for two of golf's most captivating characters. 'I've always had respect for Brooks and what he's done,' DeChambeau said last week. 'Obviously early on we didn't really understand each other… we had our spats.'.
