Deep below the Gulf of Mexico lies a 100-foot wide circle nicknamed the Jacuzzi of Death, as any creature which dares enter it dies immediately. Its waters are four times as salty as the rest of the sea around it and also include a mix of methane and hydrogen sulphide. As a result, the expanse is very dense which means any sea creature unfortunate enough to swim into it becomes trapped - and then dies thanks to its toxicity.

Images from the bottom of the sea show how the remains of the fish and crabs inside the Jacuzzi of Death are crushed under the force of the water and disintegrated. Erik Cordes of Temple University told Seeker.com : “It was one of the most amazing things in the deep sea.

“You go down into the bottom of the ocean and you are looking at a lake or a river flowing. It feels like you are not on this world.". The area was found a decade ago. Last week, one of newly inaugurated US President Trump’s first decisions was to rename the Gulf of Mexico. He decided it would be now called the Gulf of America.

Last year, a nightmare deep-sea monster built for “capturing, killing and feasting” was discovered by scientists deep under the sea. Named as Dulcibella Camanchaca, the beast was found swimming more than 8,000 metres underwater in the South Pacific Ocean’s Atacama trench. Featuring long slimy appendages on its face it uses to latch on to its prey, the crustacean is the first predator found in the area.
