Gary Baker, 58, and his wife Louise, 57, from Wakefield, are among the customers who have been unable to leave the Tan Hill Inn, in Richmond, Yorkshire, due to drifting snow.

They have been holed up for three days now but Gary admits there are worse place to be stuck and he joked the main problem is they have “run out of sausages” for the full English breakfasts.

Gary explained how it wasn’t so much the depth of the snow but drifting which had seen it build up preventing people from leaving.

“The staff here are fantastic, great people, there isn’t really a better place to be stuck,” Gary told The Mirror.
