JACK Fincham once told me he manifested winning Love Island before he'd even auditioned for the show - and believed he was destined to be a TV star. But today, Jack spent time behind bars after he was handed a six-week prison sentence for admitting being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog who attacked a runner and mauled a woman.
He was later freed on bail while he appeals - but his dream of making a comeback still feels further away than ever. Amid the highs and lows of his Love Island fame, I always found Jack to be charming - despite his countless run-ins with the law. When I broke the story about his secret stint in rehab after a drug relapse made him hit rock bottom, the 33-year-old spoke openly and honestly about the mistakes he'd made.
He had "fallen to pieces" after having "more money than he knew what to do with" - spending it on drink and class A drugs and taking at least 30 diazepam pills a day to cope with his crippling anxiety. But Jack insisted he didn't want people to feel sorry for him.
He knew it was completely his fault his behaviour had lost him thousands of pounds in paid work, that he was facing drug-driving charges and had been kicked off mega-money TV opportunities like Celebrity Ex on the Beach. He also recognised that he had hurt the people he loved the most, like his mum and sister, and was running out of chances to make amends.
