The fate of Jack Fincham's out of control Cane Corso has been revealed after the former Love Island star was jailed for dangerous dog offences. A runner named Richard Sudell, 42, was set upon by the reality TV star's huge dog near his home in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022, leaving him with an injury to his arm. Prosecutor Erin Peck told Southend Magistrates' Court yesterday that Mr Sudell initially accepted an apology over the attack and that Fincham was going to be cautioned and attend a responsible dog ownership course. The reality star accepted a number of conditions, including making sure Elvis was muzzled. However, the violent canine struck again, grabbing a woman by the leg in Grays, Essex, last year. Thankfully, she suffered no injuries.

Fincham was sentenced to six weeks in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog, with one of the incidents causing injury. However, he was then freed on bail, pending appeal. The star was spotted hours after his very brief jail stint looking cheerful at Tesco, hand in hand with his on-off girlfriend Chloe Brockett in Essex. The Cane Corso, chillingly dubbed the "XL Bully on steroids", is sparking some concern among canine experts after reports of attacks and a rise in ownership across the UK. The Italian breed of mastiff are believed to have descended from Roman war dogs, known for their large size and powerful bite. They are fiercely protective of their owners, making the 50kg guard dogs a risk.

While Fincham's dog Elvis will not be put down following the attacks, there are strict restrictions in place that his owner must follow. Presiding magistrate Anne Wade made an order that the dog must be muzzled in public places, be kept on a lead and not be left alone with anyone under the age of 16. Speaking after the sentencing, Sergeant Alex Watkins said: "Owners have to take responsibility for their dogs, and on these occasions this dog was dangerously out of control. On both occasions the owner was given a chance to rectify their behaviour with words of advice and a conditional caution – however failed to do so, resulting in this sentencing. I thank both victims for their courage during this investigation.".

With the right training, Cane Corsos can be effective and loyal guard dogs. But despite being legal to own, they aren't recognised by the Kennel Club, and many pet insurance companies will refuse to provide cover to owners. Speaking to the Express, Rob Alleyne, owner of the Canine Instructor Academy in Suffolk, warned the dogs are "like an XL Bully on steroids". He added: "It's a killing machine and they've become much more popular now.".

Fincham was also ordered to pay £3,680 in total, including £200 compensation fee to the runner and a £50 compensation fee to the other victim. The reality TV star previously faced criticism over his dog. Fans slammed Fincham over Elvis' cropped ears, which is illegal in England and Wales. He revealed last year that he had got the canine from Russia and that it was imported by Protection Dogs WorldWide. The former pen salesman also owns Sandy, a bulldog he bought while he was dating and living with his ex Dani Dyer.
