Jadon Sancho braced for Chelsea problems as club take action right after transfer window

Just when Jadon Sancho's career appeared to have turned a corner, the winger could be due some bad news this summer. Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Manchester United last summer in a deal that contains an obligation for the Blues to buy him for a fee of £20million, plus up to £5m in bonuses, provided they finish 14th or higher, which looks inevitable. However, the competition for a place on Chelsea's wings is already rife, with the likes of Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk jostling for minutes. And that battle for game time out wide may become even fiercer following speculation they're chasing Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

The Daily Mail reported Chelsea are already putting the wheels in motion for the next window with United star Garnacho and Borussia Dortmund ace Bynoe-Gittens on their watchlist. Chelsea were relatively quiet over the winter transfer window, but it seems that won't remain the case come the end of this season. The west Londoners have been fiercely linked with Garnacho, who could be available to leave Old Trafford after reports in December that he had allegedly leaked team news - something United have refuted. The 20-year-old is highly rated and fits Chelsea's recent mould of signing young, promising talent with experience at the top level.

Bynoe-Gittens, also 20, is another who falls into that category after almost five years with Dortmund. Like Sancho, the Reading native - who already spent time at Chelsea as a youth - made the switch to Gelsenkirchen from Manchester City's academy, and he may soon mimic his countryman again by returning to England. The youngster has long shown promise in Germany but is now enjoying a breakout year, having scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances this season. Garnacho's tally of eight goals and six assists in 35 outings this term isn't quite as impressive, albeit as part of a United attack that has struggled in general of late.

Both players have displayed better numbers than Sancho, who has scored just twice and supplied six assists in 20 appearances all season. The wide man has been a fairly consistent starter since December, but Enzo Maresca's faith in the player may be waning after he was hooked earlier in recent games. Sancho's days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered, and former team-mate Garnacho could play a role in hampering his progress at Stamford Bridge. Maresca has used Sancho almost exclusively on the left wing this season, which is where both Garnacho and Bynoe-Gittens prefer to operate.
