Chelsea are more than happy to bide their time in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho ahead of next week's transfer deadline. The Manchester United winger, 20, has become a shock target for the Blues and Napoli this month after it emerged that the club were open to a sale in order to generate transfer funds for their new head coach, Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho had previously been considered as 'unsellable' by United after breaking through under Erik ten Hag. But the Argentina international could now be on the move before the window shuts. While Napoli have already seen a bid rebuffed, Chelsea are also lurking. And it seems they could wait until the last minute to try and strike a deal with their Premier League rivals.
That's according to a new report from The Mail, who reveal that the Blues are willing to be patient when it comes to Garnacho, which means a deal could go down to the wire. It remains to be seen, though, if such a late sale would appeal to United, who would likely want to use any funds generated from a sale to reshape Amorim's squad. Selling the player is believed to appeal, though, given he is an academy product and any funds generated would count as pure profit in the current Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Chelsea are said to be considering other names too with Mykhailo Mudryk currently suspended. Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens is another player the club admire, as is Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams. They are also in the mix for Mathys Tel, who has plenty of Premier League interest and is now expected to leave Bayern Munich before the transfer deadline.
