Jamie Carragher has hit back at Ruben Amorim's 'bizarre' claims that his Man United side are 'maybe the worst in the club's history'. The Manchester United boss made the startling admission after their 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday, which left them 13th in the Premier League.
With six defeats in 12 in M16, this is the club's worst start to a season at home for 131 years and Amorim did not hide from an 'unacceptable' start. However, Carragher questioned the benefit of Amorim's claims and insisted that it could bring more problems for the United boss.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher said: 'I think it was one of the most bizarre and ridiculous things I've ever heard a manager say. Why you would make a comment like that. 'That's the type of comment a pundit would make, and he'd have to defend that. I don't know what he gains from that, what the benefit is. We all know it's a poor Manchester United team.
