Jamie Carragher tells Ruben Amorim to accept ‘good offer’ for Man Utd star

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United should sell Alejandro Garnacho if they receive a ‘good offer’ for the winger and says it ‘would not be the end of the world’ if he left Old Trafford. Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move away from United during the January transfer window, with Serie A giants Napoli and AC Milan said to be interested in securing his signature.

The Argentina international has made 116 appearances for Manchester United since graduating from the club’s academy and making his first-team debut in April 2022. At one point Garnacho was viewed as one of the most exciting players at the club and a potential future superstar, but his performances have dropped off recently.

Garnacho has started just half of United’s Premier League games this season and was dropped by Ruben Amorim for last month’s Manchester derby. The 20-year-old has struggled for minutes since that snub and is said to be open to leaving Manchester United this month.
Fellow Old Trafford academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has also been tentatively linked with a move away from the club but Carragher says it would be a mistake to sell the England midfielder. The Liverpool legend does not think it would be ‘the end of the world’ if Garnacho was to move on, however, and says he is a player United should be looking to sell if a suitable offer arrives on the table.
‘Mainoo you’ve got to keep. Mainoo looks to me like he could be a really good player,’ Carragher said on The Overlap. ‘But Garnacho, I don’t know. If you got good money for Garnacho… I think if you got a good offer for him it wouldn’t be the end of the world.’.
