Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has tipped in-demand Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo to replace Mo Salah. Mbuemo, 25, has already been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle this season, scoring his 14th Premier League goal of the campaign in Sunday's controversial 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace. The French-born Cameroon international is out of contract in 2026, putting Brentford in a difficult position ahead of this summer's transfer window.

That's when Salah could leave Liverpool, with his deal due to expire in just five months' time. The 32-year-old recently confirmed that there's been no progress in talks over extending his stay at Anfield and as things stand, he'll walk away from Anfield on a free transfer - just like team-mates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk could.

Salah's departure would open up a gaping void in Liverpool's attack, with the Egyptian supercharging his team's pursuit of both the Premier League and Champions League. But Mbeumo could be the man chosen to replace him, having expressed his desire to play 'in the biggest competitions'.

Carragher certainly wouldn't be opposed to signing him, declaring that he's a 'huge fan' of Brentford's talisman, who joined from French club Troyes for what was then a club-record £5.9million in 2019. "You feel with Brentford signings or Brighton because they're ahead of the game, everyone is always a little bit, 'What do they know that we missed?'" the ex-Liverpool defender told Sky Sports.

"You see them do well at those clubs then you think can they do a job for our clubs? They're ahead of the game for bringing them in, the metrics and he's certainly one of them. I think of my old club with the situation regarding Mohamed Salah, a left-footed player on the right side, who can fit the bill?.
