Jez strikes again as major Hollyoaks character dies – but there’s a huge twist

A rollercoaster week of Hollyoaks twists has ended with the mother of them all, with a murder, a gruesome exit and a framing that could land one of the show’s biggest characters with a life sentence. The end arrived for Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) at the hands of murderous Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield).

Having been held hostage by Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin), Abe faced retribution at her hands. But he refused to loosen his grip on her, attempting to attack her once more when she brought him food. As she was knocked, she was comforted by Sienna (Anna Passey) – which then led to them sharing an unexpected kiss. Meanwhile, fearing that Abe would blow the truth of Dilly’s murder, Jez released him and took him to the woods under the pretence of freeing him and forcing him out of Chester for good.

After Abe laughed at the clan, dubbing them mad, he swaggered off, only for Jez to allow himself a smirk before throttling Abe to death. Leaving his body on the woodland floor, Jez fled the scene but the murder presented an opportunity for one Grace Black (Tamara Wall).

Grace was smarting from Freddie Roscoe’s (Charlie Clapham) affair and love for Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), who Grace had vowed to kill in vengeance. Freddie made a plea to Grace that, as Mercedes was battling cancer, she has suffered enough. Uncharacteristically, Grace agreed to let bygones be bygones, leaving Freddie cautiously relieved. But we all know her better than that. She stumbled upon Abe’s body and was hit with a cruel brainwave. Emptying a couple of bullets into Abe’s corpse, she then planted the gun in Mercedes’ bag.
When the police then came to arrest her, Grace feigned shock. But her self satisfied smile has made it clear exactly what she has done – and she is prepared to see Mercedes locked away for a crime she did not commit, despite her illness.
