Comedian Joe Lycett is taking some time off from his hit Channel 4 talk show after the birth of his child last year. The popular stand-up comic, 36, announced in October 2024 that he’d become a first-time dad in a post to his 1.4m Instagram followers. He thanked Birmingham Women’s Hospital in a heartfelt caption, praising them for ‘masterfully welcoming a little boy into the world, who happens to be my son’.

After being spotted in the street with his girlfriend by photographers, looking every inch a dedicated father, it’s now expected that he’ll be spending even more time by his new family’s side. Joe’s late night talk show, Late Night Lycett, has apparently been put on hold by Joe and Channel 4 as he spends more time with his partner and child. The show, which began in 2023, sees Joe talking to esteemed guests, such as Alan Carr, Alison Hammond, Richard E. Grant, and Carol Vorderman, among others.

A second season was released in 2024, and fans expected that a new third season would be on the way at some point in the next few months of 2025. So far, 12 episodes have been broadcast, with both seasons of the series coming out in March and April of their respective years, meaning production on a new season would ordinarily have started. However, it appears Late Night Lycett has been put on the back burner for now, with sources telling The Sun that there won’t be any Late Night Lycett for a little while.

An insider told the publication: ‘Late Night Lycett is a hugely popular format and one that Channel 4 want to keep on air. ‘Joe’s witty one-liners as well as the show’s comedy and feel-good vibe means it’s not shy of attracting big names out on a Friday evening like Alesha Dixon and Elizabeth Hurley. ‘Channel 4 are keen for another series, but at the moment Joe has taken extended time off to be with his newborn son and family.’.

Despite being put on hold for now, the show is still expected to continue whenever Joe is ready to come back to working in the public eye. The insider continued: ‘Meetings around the future of Late Night Lycett have not been able to take place. [But] bosses are respecting his decision and when he does return to work, talks will take place.’. Speaking about his new family in November last year, Joe revealed that his decision to briefly change his name to Hugo Boss in 2020 ended up causing issues when trying to register his new son’s name.

‘When we went to register his name, the registrar said to me, “Have you been known by any other names?”‘ Joe siad. The star went on to say he initially said no but his partner reminded him about the Hugo Boss moment. ‘And she had to go into real granular detail, and she said “You got lucky because if you were Hugo Boss on your passport, we have to put that on his birth certificate the father is Joe Lycett is also known as Hugo Boss”,’ Joe explained.

‘Fortunately, the passport was rejected because my signature as Hugo Boss when I was Hugo Boss for that period was a c*** and balls, so they rejected it.’ He clarified that ‘it was just changed via Deed Poll.’. Metro has contacted Channel 4 and Joy Lycett’s spokesperson for comment. I bought a house with my partner — but when we broke up, he refused to sell. I finally got on the property ladder and it was the biggest mistake of my life.
