John, now 81, said: "Based on all this publicity, recently I got a letter from a lady saying, 'My ex-husband’s the killer, and I’ve kept this inside for as long as I can – please, please call me.
He and his wife Patsy, who has since died, were prime suspects for 11 years and now John is desperate for the killer - or killers - to be caught and punished so he can attempt to find closure.
However, despite immediately following up on the tip, he is yet to hear back from the mystery sender and still remains in the dark nearly 30 years after the killing.
The documentary, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey, showed how she was beaten and sexually assaulted in 1996, and how police - and armchair detectives - pointed the finger at her parents.
