Lucy Leeson | Thursday 23 January 2025 08:40 GMT. Dame Judi Dench has revealed she now struggles to leave home alone because of her deteriorating eye site. The 90-year-old actor suffers from macular degeneration, which can cause permanent vision loss. She added: “I'm always nervous before going to something. I have no idea why… I'm not good at being on my own at all, nor would I be now. And fortunately, I don't have to now because I pretend to have no eyesight.”.
