Ken Barlow (William Roache) has made a huge mistake in trusting Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street, with her antics growing more worrying by the day. The Barlows employed Cassie as Ken’s carer last year, and though at first he loathed the idea, Ken and Cassie have since formed a close bond.

However, his family have grown increasingly concerned about Cassie’s true motives – something that Ken has so far been blind to. Cassie has managed to talk her way out of a lot of close calls, and it seems as though she is set to continue getting away with her sinister plot….

Cassie has been drugging Ken for several months, in order to keep him ill enough that he relies on her. In recent scenes, Bertie Osbourne caught her slipping antihistamines into Ken’s tea, but when word got back to Ken, Cassie managed to talk her way out of it by making out that she had slipped alcohol into her own drink.

Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) has done nothing to hide her suspicions of Cassie, and in tonight’s episode she proved to be on the right track when Ken analysed his credit card statement and found some unusual purchases. When Tracy realised that hair straighteners had been purchased on Ken’s card, she launched into Cassie, who was ready with an excuse, as ever.
