Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was determined to get Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) to confess to her attack in tonight’s EastEnders. Cindy was wacked over the head with a shovel on Christmas Day, hours after her affair was revealed to the Beale and Knight families. When she returned from hospital, Cindy set about trying to find the culprit. Last week, she concluded Kathy was the person who attacked her on Christmas Day, seemingly out of revenge for hurting her son Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and sleeping with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).

Knowing her long-term enemy wouldn’t outright confirm the truth if asked, Cindy developed a plan. She approached Kathy in the café and asked if she’d join her for dinner. Cindy made it seem as though it was a peace offering, and Kathy accepted. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video. Up Next. Just before Kathy sat down that evening, Cindy started a recording app on her phone. As a conversation got underway, Cindy still kept the subject on their relationship, Ian, and her attack.

Following a comment from Peter (Thomas Law), Ian headed home to see what was going on with Cindy and his mum. He interrupted them just as Cindy asked Kathy if she attacked her. Kathy didn’t respond because Ian had entered, and then spotted Cindy’s phone on the side. Kathy laughed, and told Cindy that she wasn’t responsible because if she was, she would’ve finished the job and killed her. Frustratingly, Cindy took Kathy’s comments as another indication she was the culprit.

Cindy won’t discover the truth for a few more weeks, as the Walford Walloper will be confirmed during the show’s 40th anniversary. Ahead of EastEnders' 40th Anniversary next month - which will see the reveal of Cindy Beale's attacker - Metro narrows down the key suspects in the case. Discussing the storyline, EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw said: ‘Our 40th anniversary storylines have been in the works for some time, but even at the very start of planning, we knew that we wanted to reveal the identity of Cindy’s attacker as part of this.

‘Many characters currently find themselves in the line of question, but over the coming weeks, the audience can look out for clues themselves to who may be the culprit. ‘Cindy’s attacker reveal is just one of many stories we have planned for the anniversary as it is set to be a week of explosive drama for the audience to remember.’.
