Kim Kardashian has issued a plea to her followers after uncovering a scam using her name. The reality TV star-turned-businesswoman took to Instagram to urge users not to fall for a scam that was pretending to be her asking for help for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. The alleged email, which she shared on her Stories, had attached a fake phone number for people to ring to support the apparent cause.

Wildfires are ravaging multiple parts of LA and continue to tear across California, the most populous state in America. They are threatening areas including Calabasas, Hidden Hills and Montecito and so far more than 10,000 homes have been destroyed. It had forced more than 150,000 forced to evacuate, while at least 24 devastatingly haven't made it out alive.

SKIMS founder Kim, 44, who owns a sprawling property in The Oaks - an exclusive gated community close to the epicentre of the blaze, blasted the fake pleas, labelling the efforts of the scammers "horrible". Over the top of an email example, Kim wrote: "Beware of scammers! This is not real, if anyone gets an email like this. How horrible.".

The fake email, titled Kim Kardashian Campaigns For Affected People In LA, which was littered with mistakes, read: "Dear esteemed, This is kim kardashian hope you are doing great? Thanks for been a supportive fan. I want to bring our notice about the recent incident in Los Angeles about the fire outbreak, please I want us to play our part by helping those affected. you know I can't do it alone that is why I have you all as a fan, family and supporters you can support with any amount.".
