Lily Allen has admitted she made a huge mistake that led her to harbour years of resentment for her former mentor Elton John. The Smile singer, 39, was managed by the music legend, 77, for several years and they became close friends. However their working relationship broke down and they parted ways, with her personal life spiralling 'out of control' in the years that followed.
Lily decided to write to the Rocketman hitmaker at the time, sharing her sadness at the situation and how there was a 'big Elton shaped hole in her life', as well as being 'vulnerable' about her path to sobriety. But she never received a response from Elton - something which she revealed she 'harboured resentment towards him' for years for. 'I thought it was mean of him actually,' she said on her Miss Me? podcast in May.
Years later Lily moved to America and realised she had made a huge mistake when she found the letter while unpacking boxes. She had never actually sent it.
