Singer Lily Allen recalled having held "resentment" towards Sir Elton John for years as the result of a blunder she made after they stopped working together in a resurfaced video. Lily, 39, shared on an episode of her BBC Sounds podcast Miss Me? that was released in May that she had once been signed to a management company owned by Elton, 77. She told pal Miquita Oliver, 40, that it was around the time of her second album, It's Not Me, It's You, released in 2009.

She however revealed on the podcast that she parted ways with Elton shortly after releasing her third album, Sheezus, in 2014. Lily said that their relationship changed after that, which she found "sad," and that she later held "resentment" after believing that he had ignored a letter she wrote him.

A clip from the past episode has resurfaced this week on Instagram, with the throwback having been shared by BBC Sounds' account on the platform. It featured a condensed video of Lily recalling the experience to co-host Miquita. Lily is heard saying: "I used to be managed [...] by Elton John. [...] He would call me like once every couple of weeks to check in and say 'hi' and make sure that I was okay. And there were some times in that period where I wasn't okay.".

Discussing later going their separate ways, she said: "We parted ways [and] I wrote this long letter to say how sad I was about the situation." Lily said that she also wrote in the letter that "there was a big Elton-shaped hole in [her] life". She continued in the clip: "And over the next few years, as my life began to sort of spiral out of control, I held much resentment for the fact that I'd made myself very vulnerable in this letter and told him all about my sobriety." Lily added: "And I was quite cross with him for a few years [for not responding]. And I thought it was mean of him, actually.".
