Love Island fans horrified by married and 'nearly 50-year-old' stars

The Love Island All Stars singletons are settling into their villa after arriving on Monday 13 January, but fans of the show are not impressed by the age of some of the contestants taking part. While some of the Love Island stars are in their twenties, including 24 year old Catherine Agbaje, Luca Bish, 25, and Curtis Pritchard, 28, fans have said that older stars are “embarrassing” for being on the show. Marcel Somerville is the oldest at 39, while Scott Thomas is 36, India Reynolds is 34, and both Elma Pazar and Gabby Allen are 32.
“Any of the past islanders over the age of at least 33 should have some respect for themselves and not go on, that's a lil embarrassing sorry,” wrote one viewer, while a second said: “Marcel whose 39 married and going into the villa, not a good look ITV”. A third commented: “Nah, there really should be an age limit for Love Island... why are you doing this again at your big age?” while a fourth added: 'I know Love Island may not have an age limit but if you're touching 40....'. Another fan wrote: "Why are they letting a 50 year old into the villa. I don't want to see that!".
Marcel was particularly singled out for criticism due to his age and his marital status, with one Love Island fan saying: “Marcel being the big old age of 39 and going on love island all stars feels illegal?? You shouldn’t be coupling up every night on television you should be investing in your pension oh my GOD,” and another commenting “I don’t want this senior citizen near Catherine.” One viewer explained: “This man is a whole 39 years old (thirty nine) with a whole child and whole WIFE that he hasn’t divorced going on love island btw,” as another fan agreed: “Marcel back on love island while still being LEGALLY married is crazy.”.
