Luton close to appointing Wycombe’s Matt Bloomfield as new manager Matt Bloomfield is poised to succeed Rob Edwards at Luton and is expected to be named the Championship club’s manager within the next 48 hours.
Luton’s assistant managers, Paul Trollope and Richie Kyle, both of whom joined Edwards at Luton, are expected to leave, allowing Bloomfield to bring in his staff from Wycombe.
Luton had been reluctant to part ways with Edwards, who led the club to promotion to the Premier League in his first season, but both parties felt it was the “right time” for him to move on.
Wycombe, who are second in League One, were top at the turn of the year after an extraordinary start to the season but Bloomfield is set to continue his coaching career in the second tier.
Luton identified Bloomfield as the ideal candidate after being impressed by his work at Wycombe and Colchester, his first managerial job.
