Major supermarkets are urgently recalling Christmas dinner favourites ahead of the big day over fears they could pose a danger to customers. Causes for concern range from items containing potentially dangerous bacteria like Listeria to meat products shockingly being out on the use by date by a whole month.
Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and Dunnes have all had their fair share of festive mishaps but there is one kind of product in particular that has had to be recalled a few times. Can you guess what the most danger-prone item is and which other ones have also raised alarm?.
Shoppers at Tesco have been urged to avoid consuming a Christmas dinner favourite as it 'could pose a risk to health' and should never have been sold in the first place. This comes as the incorrect use by date was printed on packs - missing the mark by a whole 18 days leading buyers to wrongly assume it would be safe to eat for two and a half weeks longer than it actually was.
With a batch reference of Code 29 Dec, the 300g Red Cabbage & Apple packet contained a packaging error as it displayed 29 DEC as a use by date - though it should have said 11 DEC. This means shoppers may have wrongly assumed they could save the red cabbage product for Christmas Day.
The product Tesco are now recalling forms part of its red cabbage offering - the 300g Red Cabbage & Apple packet. Cooked beef slices are another product that was worryingly given a use by date of 24 JAN - but in reality this should have said 24 DEC. Shoppers are being urged to avoid consuming the red cabbage item as it 'could pose a risk to health' and should never have been sold in the first place.
